Resonance is a concept you may have come across in discussions about quantum physics or even in more speculative contexts. It’s increasingly recognised as a valuable way to understand our connection with the world. Essentially, resonance impacts various aspects of our lives, influencing our actions, decisions, emotions, thoughts, and more. But what exactly is resonance?
Resonance explains the interaction between matter and energy. Based on a fundamental universal principle, all matter has an electrical field and vibrates at unique frequencies emitting energy fields that affect their surroundings. Resonance occurs when energies with similar frequencies attract and synchronise with each other, reinforcing or amplifying these energies. For example, if you play a note on a piano, a nearby guitar string of the same frequency will start to vibrate softly in harmony.
Originally derived from quantum physics – the study of matter and energy at microscopic levels – the concept of resonance has expanded into fields like sociology and psychology. It’s not limited to atoms, sound waves, or light; it extends to our physical bodies, emotions, thoughts, ideas, events, environments, and relationships.
Practical Implications
Electrical charge moves from negative to positive because of the difference in electric potential between the two terminals. In an electrical circuit, the positive terminal has a higher electric potential, while the negative terminal has a lower potential. Electrons, which carry a negative charge, flow from the negative terminal (where there is a high concentration of electrons and lower potential) to the positive terminal (where there is a lower concentration of electrons and higher potential) in order to equalise the potential difference. This movement of electrons creates an electric current.
Consider how electricity is used in medicine: when an organ fails, an electric shock is often administered. For instance, a defibrillator is used to restart the heart if it stops beating. Our body’s vitality relies on its electrical system, which governs all functions. When something goes wrong, it initially manifests as an electrical issue before becoming a physical problem.
In AcuEnergetics®, the primary technique is Resonance. To understand this fully, we need to explore the concept of electricity within the body. Every living being and object possesses a unique energy field, often referred to as a biofield, which vibrates at various frequencies. Our entire being operates electrically, involving the flow of positive and negative particles, based on principles from Field Theory and basic electrical science. Our body, mind and functions are powered by electrical impulses, and simply put, when these systems are balanced, they work in harmony.
Energy also carries emotional energy because emotions are fundamentally electrical. They exist within an underlying field and are part of that field’s functioning. In this way, emotional electricity holds and transfers charge while conveying emotions.
We observe this electrical flow in various systems: the meridians in Chinese medicine, the transmission of signals in nerve cells, and muscle contractions facilitated by the sodium-potassium pump, which transfers electrons across cell membranes.
When we experience pain – be it emotional, physical, or mental – it results from an accumulation of excess electrical charge. This buildup creates resistance, causing tissues to act like capacitors and hold the charge, leading to pain and dysfunction. The excess charge discharges in areas under the greatest pressure or strain, manifesting as an electrical discharge (aka electric shock) ‘pain’, reflecting an imbalance in the body’s electrical system.
To assist in reducing the electrical resistance in the body & mind, we can:
- Use the Resonance technique to clear congestion and restore flow in the meridians.
- Lower electrical resistance and emotional load by opening energy centres, supported by practices like Inner Smile Meditation.
A practical example can be explained in the following way if we look at our joints using knee pain as an example. The knee is an area that is susceptible to weakness as it’s an area under constant movement and weight. When pressure/resistance builds up in a channel it will most often discharge at the part of the body which undergoes the most stress or strain because of the weakened electrical flow and static charge buildup. When the charge becomes excessive, it discharges and electric shock, causing pain. This is similar to hyperstatic charge in water pressure in a blocked pipe causing a leak in a pipe; the knee “leaks” pain under too much pressure.
Since excess static charge is negative, it naturally seeks a path of least resistance toward a positive charge. Through a comprehensive understanding of how the electrical physiology works we use Meridians, channels, centres to assess and aim to diagnose where the block is occurring. Then by using the Resonance hand technique, we create a positive charge field by placing our hands on an area. People sensitive to these changes often feel general sensations, such as warmth, tingling, or prickling.
Practitioners also feel sensations in their hands over the painful area, indicating and understanding of the electrical movement. These sensations can often match what the client feels and/or induce different sensations. As resistance in the area of concern decreases and the charge begins to flow more freely, the sensation gradually changes to feel more circular and open for the Practitioner. Consistent warmth and circular movement indicate the area is opening up and achieving electrical balance. A positive sign of progress is when the client reports reduced pain before, during and after treatment.
Resonance is a powerful force that amplifies, harmonises and aligns energies with physical, emotional and mental states. Understanding and harnessing the power of resonance can support the inherent universal natural intelligence of the body and mind to heal itself and lead to connection and deeper self-awareness.
